The Local Herald

The Local Herald, a FREE magazine in it’s eighth year, has seen a steady growth in a very competitive market. It has become the largest magazine of its kind in East Lancashire and is distributed to five separate communities with over copies delivered through the doors every month, over 45 distributors work hard to get the magazines to you on time each delivered by hand, every month using our own team of distributors. The magazine is very popular in all five communities with its own brand of humour appealing to all ages, and this light hearted and non-political approach has gained a huge readership with copies being forwarded to family and friends all over the world. Apart from entertaining its readers, the magazine serves another important role in the five communities promoting the efforts of various charities and organisations. Pendleside Hospice, East Lancs Hospice and Child Action North West are three amazing local services who must raise a huge amount of their own funds to keep going. The Local Herald devotes regular space to help these causes. Other organizations such as Rotary and local action groups work tirelessly in these communities, and again The Herald tries to promote their efforts at every opportunity. In the office at the Town Hall Building in Great Harwood, Les Petty looks after the editorial element of the magazine. Laura Chadwick is the office manager covering all aspects of the administration from credit control and invoicing, through to the mammoth monthly task of distribution. Lisa Collier is head of the Design Department looking after the artwork and production side of the business. Les the Editor says “We have developed the magazine to this point by working hard to entertain our readers and even harder to get great results for our advertisers. We have a long and proven track record of delivering a regular, reliable service at very competitive rates, and we are hoping to expand our distribution even further this year.”
