Healthcare systems spend significant time and resources recruiting physicians. Far less attention is given to the families who influence whether those physicians stay. The MedCommons works with healthcare organizations to support physician families as a core part of physician well-being and long-term stability. We focus on early, practical support for spouses and partners, especially during relocation and the transition into residency and practice. Family experience directly influences how sustainable a demanding medical career is over time. Systems that plan for it early create stronger starts, steadier teams, and more durable retention. Physician well-being does not exist in isolation. Neither does retention.
