The Neuter

Based in London and established in 2020, The Neuter is a modern design store specialising in unique vintage lighting from mid to late twentieth century. Our catalogue consists of a carefully considered and researched collection of architect designed pieces combined with other interesting artefacts in the field of lighting from across Europe. Our aim is to present an evolving collection of objects that transcend their function as mere lighting and become meaningful through the themes of culture, community, history as well as those of taste, personal expression and beauty. Our name, The Neuter, is derived from the title of a series of lectures Le Neutre given by Roland Barthes at the Collège de France in 1978.
