The Nhu Foundation

The NHU Foundation was established in 1981 as a product of the late Dr. B. Roberto Cruz’s vision of providing quality education and support for all underserved learners, with a focus on Latino students. It is with that end in mind that The NHU Foundation has shaped its mission: to identify, understand, and address the Latino education achievement gap through innovation and collaboration. The NHU Foundation has remained committed to its mission by applying resources and funding to initiatives undertaking educational issues facing minorities in original ways. The organization is deeply rooted in East San Jose and has served the community for over 30 years. Currently, The NHU Foundation operates The Center for Latino Education and Innovation, two charter high schools, and a third charter high school opening in 2015.
