The Odyssey Project

The Odyssey project is an innovative and creative approach to raising levels of engagement in both learning and leadership. At the heart of Odyssey is the belief that good teaching does not lead to good learning, though good learning transforms teaching. Our purpose is to free the intrinsic motivation to learn of every child in the classroom, from Early Years to Key Stage 5. in order to do this, five things must happen. Find the knowledge and understanding that is within the information of the curriculum in order to raise levels of engagement. Create individual and collaborative quests in Assessment for Learning in order that collaboration might emerge. See the curriculum as the resource through which children learn, rather than an end in itself, in order that curiosity might drive creativity in the classroom. Have Assessment for Learning lead Assessment of Learning in the quest to raise levels of achievement, so that every child can develop a mindset of possibility and potential, becoming a hero of their own learning as they learn new values and beliefs through exploring the curriculum. As levels of engagement rise, it will raise levels of achievement and the young people will find satisfaction in their achievements that they can apply in their wider world. Researched through Birkbeck College, the project is a proven success in raising levels of engagement as young people find meaning and purpose in the classroom.
