The Ohope Clinic

Our area of specialty and uniqueness is in assessing and remedying the EMOTIONAL COMPONENT of an illness or ailment. Why is the emotional component so important to address, and why have we decided to specialise in this area? Harvard Medical School published research in The Lancet Medical Journal in 2005, together with The American Centres for Disease Control, in which they stated that up to 85% of ailments are stress- or emotion-induced and maintained. Shortly after this research was published, The American Institute of Stress confirmed their findings that indeed this figure was closer to 90%. Stress’ is a convenient catch-all label which unfortunately gives no specific clues as to where treatment should be targeted. Our work at The Ohope Clinic is the result of decades of work in the field of the mind-body connection by a collection of leaders in this field, formally known as psycho-neuro-immunology. We at The Ohope Clinic are certain that the answer to remedying a major part of any illness – mental, emotional or physical – lies in the dissolution of the major protagonist, i.e. the (mostly unconscious) stress and emotions present at the time of shock, trauma, conflict, negativity or stress emerged. In many cases, it is the ongoing stress and emotional conflict that incubates and intensifies physical and psychological illness. In dealing with the stress and emotional conflict, we are dealing with the very thing that supports and maintains the symptoms.
