The Pathways Initiative

The Pathways Initiative is an open community of scientists and researchers wanting to take a more active role in processes of societal change. This Initiative aims at creating spaces of reflection for researchers to come together, collaborate, and learn from each other. But why is there the need for such spaces? We believe that integrating underrepresented or marginalized ways of knowing is essential to transformative change. However, a lack of skills, concepts, methods, and institutional support are common barriers for researchers wanting to apply transformative and transdisciplinary approaches. And so, increasing the capacity of the research community to better engage with societal actors is crucial to explore alternative narratives and co-construct pathways towards more desirable futures. This is why we created a series of activities and opportunities to support researchers engaging in transformative research. From the Pathways Forum, our webinar series, to our Communication Grant and Autumn School, we aim to legitimize transformative research and create a sense of belonging to a community of like minded.
