The Public Foundation: Feeding Hope, One Fridge at a Time The Public Foundation is a not-for-profit organization addressing hunger and food waste through “Ayyamittu Unn.” By installing community fridges and charity counters in Chennai, Bangalore, and Vellore, we provide free access to food, clothing, books, and essentials—without questions or judgment. Founded by Dr. Issa Fathima Jasmine in 2017, Ayyamittu Unn began with a simple idea: a public fridge where anyone could take or leave food anonymously. This vision has grown into a powerful movement, restoring dignity, fostering community, and transforming surplus into sustenance. Our Initiatives: Ayyamittu Unn: Community fridges providing meals with dignity. Charity Counter: Redistributing gently used clothes, books, toys, and essentials. Sweet Squad Drive: Sharing festive joy through sweet box distributions. Feed a Family: Supplying groceries to sustain struggling families. Project SOS: Delivering critical aid during disasters. Impact Highlights: 2.1 million meals served ₹8.87 Crores worth of food rescued 87 tonnes of clothing, 2,819 pairs of shoes, and 2,531 kg of toys distributed 2,674 kg of books donated 30,850 sweet boxes shared across 48 villages meals and 6,500 relief kits during emergencies Future Vision: Expand to 50 More Fridges: Across India Kindness Hubs: Creating centers for sharing and learning Inspire Generations: Educating on giving and sustainability Recognition: The Public Foundation has been honoured with over 25 awards for its impactful work in combating hunger, promoting sustainability, and building compassionate communities.
