The Red Lotus

The Red Lotus is an organization that works towards promoting sustainable menstruation as well as the proper disposal of menstrual waste. We are comprised of three pillars: menstruators, sanitation workers, and the environment. We believe that as menstruators, we have an inherent responsibility towards the environment and towards those who dispose of our waste. We are actively focusing on promoting more efficient and hygienic disposal practices parallel to encouraging sustainable period products. We work with sanitation workers to understand their grievances and collaborate with them to make and distribute paper envelopes for menstruators to dispose of their waste. This makes menstrual waste more conspicuous and thus easier to segregate, lessens chances of any infection, and also prevents spillage. We also regularly organise webinars and talks to highlight the ideals of our organization.
