The Teaching Heart Foundation
Our Story: After working for 14 years for Miami Dade County Public Schools in Miami Gardens, husband and wife, Linda and Carlson Desilma, wondered how they can encourage and empower children of all ages. In 2016, their faith and passion for education led them to establish The Teaching Heart Foundation. This is a nonprofit foundation helping children, families, and childcare institutions through free ballet, swimming and creative arts classes. The sessions are held in South Florida at several sites. Our Mission:"We wanted to keep the classes free for kids who wouldn’t have this opportunity otherwise. Most of our children are from single family households who can't afford classes"' stated Program Director, Linda Desilma."We wanted to give them all an opportunity to study and experience art. We aim to give valuable experiences to reinvigorate the imagination of children", says Carlson Desilma.
