The View Magazine is a feminist human rights platform that publishes a quarterly magazine and campaigns to build a better world for women in the justice system. About 3200 women in English prisons, and those out on license, women who have gone through domestic abuse and living in refuges, women asylum seekers and those forced into honour marriages are just some of the women The View supports, who are part of our community. We focus on mental health, rehabilitation and ensure that their rights are sufficiently protected. please do subscribe to our magazine to stay involved and informed about the latest in policy reform. Among other things, we work hard to nurture creativity and encourage them to own their pasts, narrate their stories and create better futures through art and writing. The View pays £50 to women for published contributions. Our first issue of The View magazine is out now, and you can subscribe, here: https://theviewmag.org.uk/shop-%2F-subscribe-1 and our website is also live, here: Our first live event will be in the Autumn at the House of Lords. It’ll host campaigners, politicians, journalists, and other special guests including the UN Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women and Girls. We always need productive volunteers and Bright sparks, if you want to know more about the event or how you can get involved - just ask. Currently, our main focus is decarceration and better training for the judiciary to use prison as the past resort. We’re working on Issue 7 right now, and that’ll be out in July. The View showcases the creative work of women in prison - visual arts, prose and poetry. Creativity is a proven means of improving mental health and reducing reoffending. Not only that - we pay them for their work. This pay goes some way towards helping these women rebuild their lives on their release. Got a story for us?
