The Williamson Museum
The Williamson Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation established in 1997 to collect, preserve and exhibit items relating to the rich culture and heritage of Williamson County. Williamson County is home to 28 communities and over residents, with rapid growth and development continuing to add to the size of the county every year. The museum offers free and exciting hands-on educational programs to the public through innovative exhibits, tours and outreach including our annual Pioneer Day at Old Settlers Park. We offer many other events as well, including crafting with cocktails, salons that discuss historical topics, and much more! In FY 2025, The Williamson Museum served over 19,142 Central Texas Students with our Educational Outreach Programs and Traveling Trunks. Next, the museum saw 22,283 visitors walk through its doors, discovering the stories of Williamson County by interacting with the fifteen new exhibits that went on display this year. The museum also presented 1,254 individual programs! Our mission is to promote the culture and heritage of Williamson County through education, preservation, acquisition and exhibition. Our vision is to be a meaningful presence in every area of Williamson County and a destination for locals and visitors to the region to learn about the rich and diverse history of this area. The Williamson Museum is located on 716 South Austin Avenue in Georgetown, Texas 78626, on the town square in The Historic Farmer's State Bank Building. The Museum's hours are Wed-Fri 12-5 PM as well as Saturday 10-5 PM. Admission to the museum is free and we are child friendly with numerous interactive exhibits for children to have the opportunity to experience history hands on. Furthermore, visit Willie’s general store inside of the museum to purchase gifts, art, and more! All proceeds from purchases within Willie’s general store and donations made inside of the museum go towards supporting the museum’s educational outreach programs.
