The Workstyle Revolution

The Workstyle Revolution is a not-for-profit organisation founded by Lizzie Penny and Alex Hirst with a mission to create a happier, more fulfilled society through a world of work without bias. Partnering with charities including Scope, Autistica, Astriid and Mind, the organisation seeks to close employment gaps for those who are structurally excluded from work, and create a world in which everyone can work in a way that suits their individual needs and circumstances (aka, their ‘workstyle’). Built on over a decade of research and practical experience, The Workstyle Revolution promotes personalised work as a catalyst for improving wellbeing, productivity and inclusion across society. It raises awareness, showcases best practices, and leads the conversation on the future of work. Perhaps its most important work is in supporting organisations to embrace workstyle working in practice in order to widen participation in the workforce through programmes such as the ‘Workstyle Pioneers’ piloting initiative for employers, and the Workstyle Awards to showcase best practice. The organisation has led multiple events at the Houses of Parliament on the subject of autonomy and inclusion at work, and also builds communities through education, storytelling and advocacy giving voices to those excluded by traditional 9-to-5 norms. At its core, the movement challenges outdated work systems and inspires and empowers employers to reimagine how, when and where work happens - driving lasting social change and enabling work to fit around life for everyone. For their work at Workstyle Revolution, co-founders Lizzie and Alex were named as #4 in HR Magazine’s Most Influential Thinkers 2025.
