Welcome to The Sober Experience, my company that provides webinars, workshops and 1:1 coaching primarily around the theme of alcohol. The focus of The Sober Experience is “to normalise the conversation around alcohol” by removing stigma, by educating and by providing support to anyone that might benefit from a sober experience. The topic is gaining real momentum within organisations and I offer an accessible, hugely positive and engaging option. Five years sober myself and trained as a sobriety coach and volunteer in the sober space, I came to realise that whilst my own drinking habit was “normal” by society’s standards, I had become “addicted” to that habit to respond to any mood shift. As I explain in my webinars a regular habit can so easily escalate because alcohol is highly addictive and the brain’s coping mechanism is to normalise your consumption and then crave more. We just don’t talk about this side of alcohol enough. So what exactly is a sober experience you may ask? It’s the learning, the empathy and the tools to support taking a break from alcohol delivered in the most positive way. My initial webinar is just half an hour and it talks about my own alcohol shift, the brain and mind, society’s influence and how powerfully energising taking a break can be for a person. My mission is not to stop the world from drinking but to open up the conversation so those that might want to take a break or stop drinking feel able to do so.
