Thirteen Broomsticks is the home of alternative publishing. Unlike mainstream publishing houses, we welcome the unconventional and don’t ask them to conform. All of our products are hand-crafted by eccentric minds and creative hands. We deal directly with our wonderful independent printers who are based in Inverness, Scotland as well as a growing number of independent bookshops across the country. Wherever possible we use recycled or eco-friendly stock. Most importantly, we provide free downloadable resources to educational organisations. OUR MANIFESTO - To challenge the sanitised & sterilised mainstream market [for children’s books] which are disproportionately unimaginative and dull- To offer alternative families with unconventional children characters that they can relate to- To inspire a new generation of bohemians, rebels, artists & free spirits who will make the world a better place- To open conventional minds and inspire compassion & change- To bring odd-ball characters to life by publishing books that stand out as being hand-crafted by uniques souls and kooky weirdos- To challenge children when current education standards will not- To unapologetically embrace the arts and make them accessible and cherished as the greatest teachers.
