Thomas Haywood

Process I studied History and Anthropology before doing an MA in photography at the RCA. Using a mixture of portraiture, landscape, text and spoken word, my work is primarily concerned with exploring the relationships between people and place, and the influence of ideas on a particular period in time. My work starts from a personal relationship with the subject matter and then expands outwards, and drifts between an associative and emotive reading of spaces, to an exploration of visual metaphors and symbols. Exhibitions I graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2008, and for my MA final show was awarded the Photographers' Gallery RCA Prize. Recent exhibitions include a solo show 'Everything Together,' at Exhibit London, and group shows 'Survey' at Standpoint Gallery, London,'Mirror Mirror,' at the Jerwood Gallery, London and 'Success/Failure,' at Photomonth in Krakow, Poland.
