Three Trees, Inc
Three Trees, Inc. is a non-profit, non-affiliated organization providing support and a comforting environment for grieving children and their families. As the only independent children’s bereavement center in Kansas, people throughout the state come to Three Trees in their time of need. All support groups and many other services are provided free of charge. Three Trees relies entirely on the financial support of the community to fulfill its mission. We work with children between the ages of 3 and 18 years and their adult caregivers as they grieve the death of a loved one. This is primarily done through age-appropriate, peer-support groups. These groups meet weekly for 1 1/2 hours at a time for nine weeks. During the groups, we work on four tasks of grieving using expressive art modalities such as painting, drawing, writing, sculpting, etc. Our program works. Through a survey process, over 90% of our families report a change in their family relationships and changes in school performance. They also state they would recommend Three Trees to other children and families who have had a loved one die.
