Thriving Sparrow Counseling

Thriving Sparrow Counseling was founded by Jennifer Rochon, LCSW, RPT-S, CHIMHP who has been in private practice since 2009. Jennifer founded her first group practice in 2014 in an effort to be able to contract with the State of Illinois to provide services to a wider range of clients. That practice was a pioneer Behavioral Health Center in 2019 and one of the first for-profit entities in Illinois to provide Medicaid mental health counseling services in the BHC service delivery model. Over the course of her career, Jennifer supervised and mentored numerous therapists who launched solo and group practices. She has also consulted with other existing group practices to assist them in becoming entities that would accept clients with Medicaid insurance plans. In 2021, Jennifer’s desire to innovate further in the area of expanding Medicaid mental health services resulted in her decision to sell her previous business and pursue another path. She successfully sold that business to a company that then sold it to a major commercial insurance company. This allowed her to begin work on what became Thriving Sparrow. Our practice is among the few that have undergone the extensive application and approval process to provide Medicaid Services to the underserved. All services are evidenced-based, monitored, and are government approved. In addition, our staff have participated in specialized training in understanding how trauma and attachment can impact all aspects of life. Today, Thriving Sparrow Counseling continues it’s legacy through the careful curation of a team of therapists and leaders who share in the mission of this practice…to increase the access to quality, compassionate mental health counseling services for the underserved across Illinois.
