COVID-19 has caused a secondary epidemic of burnout and stress at workplaces. Combined with business-model disruption, this has created unprecedented challenges. Teams disconnected by remote working and prolonged periods of uncertainty and exhaustion, are struggling with communication. Interpersonal conflict, mistrust and underperformance are rife.To build high-performing teams, managers must develop interpersonal skills to be able to cultivate psychological safety within their teams. I’m an independent Business Psychologist with therapeutic expertise which allows me to use a unique approach with individuals and teams to maximise their collective potential, purpose and performance. Organisations are not short of knowing what they need to do to create psychologically safe climates. Yet, most managers struggle to translate this knowledge in their day-to-day leadership behaviours. It is not enough to know ‘what’ to do. Managers require a deeper understanding of human behaviour and need to know ‘how’ to translate this into practice. Combining my specialist fields of occupational and clinical psychology, I use a whole-person view of change to support managers’ thinking.
