the Thursday File Website is just one part of the file. 1 - Newsletter 2 - Website 3 - Social Network The very first Thursday file was unceremoniously sent to 10 friends. It contained only 13 quotations and as it was a Thursday I, in jest, elected to name it “If it’s Thursday…it must be Steve!” My 10 friends sent the file to their friends and I began to receive requests. The second e-mail went out to 25 people with 10 quotations and a recommended web site to look at. Within a few weeks I was sending the file to over people and the content had expanded to include odds and ends I collected during the week that interested me. The administration became mind boggling and eventually I purchased a new data base that allowed people to opt-in and out on their own. I needed help and thankfully my talented and computer savvy son, Nathan, designed, built and maintained the site. Nathan and I kept tinkering and the look and content changed dramatically over the years. In 2004, my sister, Evelyn, who lives in Toronto, joined us. She initially just edited our copy but eventually started, what she called – offering suggestions, which I correctly translated into “use my ideas”. Truthfully, working with her is fun and it has kept us even more connected. In his usual unpretentious way Nathan contributed so much to the file but over the last few years the time he has been able to provide has diminished and I realized I needed another venue in order to continue. I began hunting for a new home site that I could manage myself. During July and August of 2007 we started a new data base with a full colour e-mail. Next came this Web site, which I can control. This has all been a big, not to mention, frustrating learning curve for me…
