Tokyo Cement Company (Lanka) PLC was established in 1982, as a joint venture between Japan’s Nippon Coke & Engineering Company and Sri Lanka’s St. Anthony’s Consolidated, under the visionary leadership of Founder Chairman, late Deshamanya A.Y.S. Gnanam. Listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange in 1984 as the first privately owned cement manufacturer, the company has made an indelible mark in transforming the country’s construction industry. As the largest manufacturer of cement and concrete, the company operates the country’s only ISO certified cement and concrete testing lab. Keeping quality at the forefront of operations, Tokyo Cement is the first local company to achieve ISO 14001 Environment Management Systems Certification and the first cement manufacturer to achieve ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems Certification.
