Tokyo Trust Capital was established in 2016 with equity contributions from MA Platform (“MAP”) and key professionals who are the start-up members. MAP is a private equity firm established with Akira Mori’s personal capital (Akira Mori is the Chairman and owner of Mori Trust Co, Ltd. one of the largest privately held real estate development firms in Japan). In view of the ever increasing global capital flows in real estate investments, Tokyo Trust Capital aspires to be a leading investment/asset management firm catering to clients for both inbound and outbound opportunities to and from Japan. The new firm will bring a unique combination of a local Japanese team with significant experience in western investment firms and synergy from a large and established Japanese real estate corporate. The firm will source and manage deals for both foreign capital seeking to invest in real estate in Japan and Japanese capital seeking to invest in foreign real estate markets. In July 2021, Singaporean investment manager, TE Capital Partners Pte Ltd, has acquired a strategic stake in our firm to become a major shareholder. Together, we will further the growth of the firm in its strategy of cross-border investments into and out of Japan.
