Tollbooth Press

A small press in California that publishes poetry books, anthologies, and a translation magazine,"Composite". Most of our books are produced by hand and given away or sold very cheaply. Titles include Cuts from the Barbershop: 12 Bay Area Poets; Inamorata by Greg Hall, Florentino y el Diablo by Alberto Arvelo Torrealba (tr. Liz Henry), Woodbird Jazzophone, and Prayers are Better Sung by Rhiannon Dickerson. Composite highlights a single poem in a non-English language, with translations of that by many different translators. It helps to expose the possibilities of the process of literary translation, inviting the reader to try their hand at that art.
