Tom Atlanta

Housed at Georgia Tech, Emory University, and Kennesaw State University and always growing, TOM: Atlanta is a community of makers, engineers, designers, therapists, and families dedicated to creating free, open-source assistive technology. We work directly with individuals and families in our community living with disabilities to design and build solutions that meet real, everyday needs. Our projects range from simple adaptive devices to complex custom tools, all documented and shared openly so that anyone, anywhere, can recreate, improve, and benefit from them. By connecting students, professionals, and people with lived experience, we turn challenges into opportunities for innovation. Every device we make is more than a product — it’s a collaboration, a story, and a step toward a more inclusive world. Mission: To ensure that no person is left behind due to lack of access to assistive technology. 🤝 Approach: Human-centered design + open-source sharing + local community partnerships.
