Founded in 1920 By Mr. Tom Dodd, Sr, Tom Dodd Nurseries developed a reputation for quality and innovation. Mr. Tom Dodd, Jr, the son, was a prolific hybridizer of new plants and created many of the staple woody ornamentals we see in landscapes today, including Mary Nell Holly, a number of Camellia japonica and sasanqua cultivars as well as numerous Azalea varieties. The nursery grew to approximately 250 acres. In 2004, the nursery was sold and is now owned by Mr. John Williams. The nursery today continues to strive to produce a diverse selection of quality woody ornamentals, perennials, grasses, and groundcovers in sizes ranging from 4” pots to 30 gallon containers for the trade in the Southeast US. In recent years, we’ve grown to almost 300 acres and employ more than 100 employees during peak season. Our Sales, Shipping, Production and Management team are all seasoned professionals with over 200 years of combined experience in the industry. We are licensed by most of the major brands including Southern Living Plant Collection, Encore Azalea, First Editions, Endless Summer Hydrangea, and Proven Winners, brands that are driving the market. We also produce Knockout and Drift Roses. Our goal as a company is to produce a diverse mix of the best quality nursery stock at a fair value coupled with excellent service. With our diversity and quality, we serve growers, re-wholesalers and distribution centers, retail garden centers, and landscape contractors throughout the south, central, and eastern United States.
