Torlowei is an all-encompassing fashion house, based in Lagos, Nigeria. The brand is the brainchild of Patience Torlowei, its founder and creative director, and was borne out of Patience Please Nigeria Ltd, the first registered lingerie manufacturer in Nigeria. The brand’s esthetic is based on the marriage of luxury materials with body-friendly silhouettes that flatter all men and women regardless of shape, size or skintone. Furthermore, sustainability and ethical practices form the heart of our operations, through the use of recycled fibres, biodegradable packaging and the payment of living wages in comfortable working conditions. Our materials include the purest, richest and most unique textiles and accessories available, from the softest cotton mousselines from Switzerland to the richly woven silk douppions straight from the looms in India and the intricately hand-dyed batiks found in Nigeria. Our silks are woven and dyed in Como, Italy and our laces were made by multi-generation spanning family companies in Caudry, France. Whether it be our lacey bras and corsets, silky kaftans, luxurious pyjamas or timeless ready-to-wear pieces, no expense is spared on the materials or the attention to detail. The pieces designed and produced under the Torlowei label invite the bearer to experience the ultimate in luxury and design, all made in Nigeria. A multi-disciplinary artist formally trained in textile design and technology, Patience in her work aims to stay true to her West-African heritage and her European training.
