TORMAR Associates LLC is a joint family office. The firm was founded in 2003 by John Tormondsen and Ron Marks, seasoned macro traders and former Goldman Sachs partners who each have 32 years of trading and investing experience. TORMAR began as a joint family office and in mid-2005 the firm launched a global macro-oriented trading business. Prior to starting Tormar Associates, Ron Marks managed a $2 billion portfolio for Caxton Associates, a hedge fund founded by Bruce Kovner, while John Tormondsen co-founded a hedge fund, Zpoint advisors. Prior to that, Tormondsen and Marks were with Goldman Sachs & Co. for 17 and 16 years, respectively. Tormondsen was a partner, heading swap and government bond trading, while Marks was the European partner running interest rate swaps, foreign exchange, money markets, government bonds, and global emerging markets, based in Goldman Sachs’ London office. TORMAR focuses it risk-taking in the vast spot foreign exchange market and associated options market as well as the interest rate futures and options markets on the CME. The firm focuses on mainly the G-10 currencies including the Euro, British Pound, Japanese Yen, etc. Tormondsen and Marks have funded the trading business with their own capital since inception. TORMAR has a valuable counterparty network comprising over a dozen major banks and investment houses. The firm currently owns a CBOT rule 106H associate seat.
