When I finally realised that the job offer to play James Bond in the next blockbuster movie wasn't going to arrive I started my own Web Design company, Total Results Ltd. Despite quite appalling advice I was given at the outset I survived and still manage to provide Website Design and SEO in Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham and anywhere else in the North East of England. That's been going on now for 17 years but if you add in the several years I taught IT and web design in Newcastle College before that, I count myself as a 25 year veteran of the Internet. Web Design is simpler now than it's ever been but please don't trick yourself into thinking it's easy. You need to start with a professional design before you jump in yourself and start creating havoc and don't even think about SEO. SEO isn't a black art but it will give you nightmares, believe me. When you stuff all your beloved keywords into your site, create backlinks and optimise your content you'll still find a couple of dozen Amazon, Wikipedia and competitors' pages pushing you off the first page of Google. Seems unfair I know, but that's the Internet and Google for you. Don't go through all the pain of learning from your mistakes, learn from mine, I've been there, made all the goofs and worked for years before finally working things out.
