Toyota Malawi

Toyota Malawi has been serving automoblile owners since 1963 and traded as Mobile Motors then. It was started by the late Derek and Jean Friend who later had partnership with late Tiny Rowland of Lonrho who had some business interest in Malawi. From early 70’s through 80’s saw Mobile Motors undergoing limited expansion through a controlled market. In the mid 90’s TMC and TTC renewed their interest in the Toyota brand in Malawi. This called for a corporate transformation hence it underwent physical restructuring and major capital investment, adopting its present name. Today, Toyota Malawi is the official distributor of Toyota vehicles and Hino trucks in Malawi and boasts modern facilities in Blantyre and Lilongwe. Remarkably Toyota Malawi has managed to increase its share of the market from 20% to 50% within five years. It has since then maintained the number one position.
