The Founder and CEO of Transition Planning Australia, Peter McKnoulty, has over 30 years experience as a tax and commercial lawyer with McCullough Robertson Lawyers, a leading independent law firm in Australia, with 25 of those years as a partner. He specialises in tax, business structures and restructures and tax and estate planning. In recent years his focus has been on assisting businesses – principally, but not limited to, Baby Boomers - in the process of selling their businesses – not just the tax and legal aspects, but adopting a broader focus on the practical aspects and ‘how to’s’ of the business sale process. Peter has extensive experience in advising families on intergenerational transfers of business and wealth. Invariably the unspoken ‘family issues’ need to be addressed as part of the assignment. After 25 years as a partner in a large and successful law firm, Peter decided it was time for his own transition, to concentrate more on all aspects of business and family succession – not just the legal and tax issues. He remains a Consultant to McCullough Robertson, a role that complements his Transition Planning expertise. Peter travelled to Boston and has completed the Successful Transition Planning Institute’s training program, and is now the only Certified Transition Planning Consultant outside the United States.
