Wake Forest University School of Medicine proudly announces the launch of the Translational Eye and Vision Research Center (TrEVR), a groundbreaking initiative commencing January 1, 2024. Located in the vibrant Biotech Place within the Innovation Quarter, the Center stands as a visionary hub for eye and vision research. Under the leadership of distinguished Co-Directors Dr. Rebecca Sappington, PhD, and Dr. Jian-Xing Ma, MD, PhD, TrEVR is set to redefine the landscape of vision research with a firm commitment to innovation and excellence. The Center emphasizes translational and team-based research, fostering a dynamic environment that bridges vision researchers, stakeholder organizations, and biotechnology partners. This collaborative approach is designed to accelerate discovery and promote innovative solutions in vision and eye disease. TrEVR’s comprehensive strategy includes pilot and travel award programs, empowering scientists to pursue groundbreaking work, and features four specialized research cores, including the Ocular Biorepository Core Resource led by Dr. Sappington. TrEVR's commitment to education and collaboration is further highlighted through its dynamic seminar series and a calendar of special events, aimed at cultivating a rich collaborative atmosphere.
