Tribuna Student Newspaper

Tribuna was first a student newspaper of the Union of Socialist Youth of the Republic of Slovenia, later the Student Organization of the University of Ljubljana. It was published from 1951 to 1998, as a weekly or biweekly, and has reached two publishing peaks - in sixties and nineties. Some of the issues have led to dismissal of the editorial board, arrests of editors and, in some cases, charges against them. It was issued on the locations of the University of Ljubljana and proactive distributors have made sure that copies also reached other parts of Slovenia. 2006 a special issue was published dureing the student protests against tuition fees. On 15. December 2009, after eleven years of silence, under the lead of a new editorial team it started yelling again, as a monthly. It deals with the existential questions of students, quality of study, labor market conditions, current events, politic and other domestic and foreign socio-critical topics. This criticism reflects not merely in words but also in illustration and photography. Changing formats, typography, typefaces and colors are signature for Tribuna, from its inception. Its consistency is inconsistency.
