Trix is a new kind of women’s magazine. Featuring the work of investigative journalists and artists all over the world, we produce storytelling for independent and curious women. Our international community of contributors offers local perspectives on timely issues from corners of the world that might otherwise go undiscovered. Trix offers an alternative to magazines that overemphasize fashion, beauty, sex, or self-improvement. We publish stories by women, for women that explore a range of global affairs and elevate strong voices and role models along the way. Our editorial is grounded in research on gender bias in the media. Lack of equal representation and passive, over-sexualized poses of women reinforce negative stereotypes, lower self-esteem particularly among adolescent girls, and imprint an image of disempowered women in our collective cultural consciousness. Trix is built upon research that shows when women are exposed to strong leaders and role models, it both positively influences their personal and professional ambitions, and increases self-confidence. Images of women portrayed in strong, active poses can both diminish anxiety about sexual violence and promote pro-feminist attitudes. By illuminating the resilience, strength, and agency of women, Trix advances a world where their stories of success are the norm, not the exception. Trix reaches thousands of subscribers in 45 countries. Our sold out live events have featured speakers and thought leaders from the New York Times, VICE, Stanford University, HuffPost, and Ellevest. We feature the work of contributors also published in outlets like National Geographic, TIME, New York Times, Washington Post, Al Jazeera, VICE, Vogue, The Guardian, BBC, Quartz, and Condé Nast Traveler.
