Trolley Gallery

Trolley Gallery emerged alongside the already existing Trolley Books when they moved into the gallery space in Shoreditch recently vacated by Stuart Shave/Modern Art in 2003. Initially the gallery program concentrated on existing authors, photographers and artists, including Italian duo Vedovamazzei and in 2005 the first solo show of Paul Fryer, whose book of poetry 'Don't Be So' had been published in 2002. Following that the gallery presented several solo shows of contemporary artists including Benedetto Pietromarchi, David Rickard, Mario Consiglio and Nina Gehl. In recent years the gallery has officially represented in the UK the artists Boo Saville, Juliana Cerqueira Leite, Stephanie Quayle, Colin Glen, Nina Gehl, Hrafnhildur Arnardottir aka Shoplifter and Laureana Toledo, with a programme concentrating on emerging artists and international artists who have not shown in the UK before. The gallery and publishing activities continue to sometimes overlap, with an exhibition in 2006 of polaroids by singer and writer Patti Smith in support of the publication Double Blind by Paolo Pellegrin, and more recently the solo show in 2010 by Mexican artist Laureana Toledo following the publication of her artist book The Limit. In 2011 Trolley Gallery will relocate to a new space in central London.
