Truepico Hydropower

Around 2015, an idea of a small hydropower unit started taking shape. A unit that would use an overshot waterwheel - a robust, easy-to-make, and easy-to-maintain design. For many years this was just a pastime, a gradually improved concept. In 2022, this concept was taken to NTNU, as the subject of a master's thesis that would prove it has advantages over conventional hydropower plants. In January 2023 we built the first prototype to begin testing. Right now, we are an understaffed, underfunded, and underestimated start-up. But we are also determined and aware of the idea's potential, as we aim to build a 10 kW pilot project installation in Rotifunk, Sierra Leone in less than 2 years.
