TUA was founded in 2020 to enhance the sustainability of the sub-Saharan African (SSA) rural communities by providing smallholder farmers with access to technology, markets, financial services, skills, and competencies, to transform their farms into viable profitable businesses. We believe investment in smallholder farmers, who represent 70% of the population, will lift millions out of poverty through the transformation of agriculture from a a way of life into a viable profitable business that will offer new sources of revenue. TUA actively engages smallholder farmers by creating distribution centres and providing access to high quality cassava processing technology. The distribution centres have a dual purpose as collaboration and training centres where we: collaborate with farmers’ groups, community-based organisations, government & development agencies, and financial institutions; buy fresh cassava roots (FCR) directly from farmers; pre-process the FCR into high-quality intermediate products that are sold as is or transported to a centrally located processing plant with advanced technology to produce additional higher-value products; and disseminate knowledge on good agricultural practices (GAP), financial literacy and other home economics information. Our strength lies in the mastery of streamlining all the processes that involve growing and processing of FCR into high quality consumer products and inputs for other industries. This operating model guarantees the supply of raw materials to TUA and other industries while ensuring the financial and food security of the smallholder farmers; hence enhancing the sustainability of the SSA rural communities
