The bakery was established in 1988 by local family man Mark Rawles, hence the original name, Rawles Country Bake. Mark and wife Kerryn successfully ran the business providing a retail and wholesale option to the community for 18 years. In 2006 Mark and Kerryn relaxed into retirement by selling the bakery to local business couple Debra White and Dale Murphy. In 2017 they changed the name to Tumby Bay Bakery.
