Tun Yat

Tun Yat is an on-demand agri-tech service provider operating in Myanmar. Most farmers can’t afford to buy, but can afford to rent machines. We solve this by providing an on-demand farming machinery service following an Uber for Tractor model. By sourcing a fleet of high quality farming machines, we provide affordable and reliable services targeting lower income farmers. Operating in one service hub, we fill gaps in mechanization among farmers by using mechanization inputs to increase yields. Our Facebook Platform links tractor owners, dealers and farmers. Our IoT sensor devices attached to machines collect accurate machine utilization data that tractor dealers and banks lending out tractor loans want to analyze. Farmers receive agri-machinery rental service at market price for land preparation and harvesting rice, maize, sesame, bean crops. Farmers require high quality machinery so we provide Japanese (Kubota), European (New Holland) and American Quality (John Deere Machines). Vitally, farmers require skilled machine operators for efficient machine utilization and better yields. Thus, our operators are well-trained to provide a reliable and on-time service. Our “farming-as-a-service” procedure - frequent and existing customers are offered premium services: premium quality seeds (brown rice, jasmine rice, black rice and sesame are a few of them), fertilizer, post-harvest transportation and guaranteed crop buy-back service linked to a local or export buyer. We also partner with an ERP to build transaction data on farmers for credit scoring and future bank tractor loans. Beyond the farm, Tun Yat involves in various research efforts. In 2020, we conducted analysis of the Rice, Pulses and Fisheries Systems in the Ayeyarwady Delta Region uncovering constraints of each system, their relation to one another and how different stakeholders play in causing and/or solving these constraints.
