It’s arguable that humans have been responding to frightening or potentially traumatic events since their arrival on earth. Only in recent years has that response become big business. There’s nothing wrong with that until the focus shifts from the needs of the impacted to providing a specific response to best make a profit. Provocative advertisements, email blasts and social media outreach promoting active shooter training for organizations or clinicians are just examples of the sensationalism that permeates the incident response world. Over the years, there has also developed a need for a global perspective for the work that is done. What might work best in a factory in the US might not be appropriate in other parts of the world. Although rarely talked about, the use of American methods to deal with international events could have a paradoxical effect for not only the individual, but the local culture, politics or spiritual beliefs. Turn Key Consulting is taking on the task of bringing the conversation to the table, continent by continent and region by region. Response to an incident is a “we” thing.
