During World War II, Leonard Spitz established the commissary and food services for the armed forces in the District of Columbia district for what later became the Pentagon. In1946 he was a pioneer developing convection ovens to quickly heat meals aboard commercial aircraft. By the mid-1950s, Mr. Spitz invented the machinery use to mass produce crinkle-cut French fries as well as the assembly lines for his company that manufactured frozen food. John Grove, whose heavy equipment is used worldwide by many industries, built his first mobile crane for Mr. Spitz. Although he is no longer with us, Mr. Spitz's legacy continues to this day at Tuscarora USA with our vision of using technology to improve people's lives.
