Tyson Wheel Technologies is the first company in South Africa to bring you Polyurethane OTR wheels. We manufacture any size wheel according to our customers' requests. Our product solves most problems companies are experiencing with pneumatic OTR tyres with regard to safety and tyre utilization. Tyson Wheel Technologies is owned and managed by several stalwarts of the mining tyre business. The founders bring among them a total of 80 years experience in the OTR tyre industry coupled with a wealth of business experience Mission: To develop a safer, more efficient alternative to the conventional pneumatic tyre and to supply and market it through a customer orientated workforce. The Tyson wheel consists of a steel rim(manufactured in our factory) to which a solid polyurethane tyre is bonded. Tyson has developed a high quality bonding technique for adhering the tyre to steel - this is crucial for providing wheels that can be relied on to perform well for years in severe working conditions. Tread utilization is a major problem in the OTR tyre industry. Studies have found that mining companies only utilize 40% of the tread available on a pneumatic tyre, the other 60% is lost due to early failures. This, along with increase in safety was our main drivers in developing a polyurethane wheel to replace conventional pneumatic tyres.
