Ubc Prisman Lab

Prisman Lab, directed by Dr. Eitan Prisman, Clinical Associate Professor at UBC's Department of Surgery, Division of Otolaryngology, focuses on the integration of advanced technology in head and neck reconstructive surgery. Since its establishment in 2014 at Vancouver General Hospital, the lab has been at the forefront of combining biomedical engineering and computer technology to enhance surgical precision. Our key innovations include the development of a virtual surgical planning system with 3D-printed cutting guides for jaw reconstruction, introduced into clinical practice in 2017, and the pioneering of Western Canada’s first Trans-oral Robotic Surgery (TORS) Program. Dr. Prisman’s work also extends to leading randomized controlled trials, leveraging ultrasound in robotic surgeries, and integrating machine learning to improve diagnostics and treatment outcomes.
