Ufanisi Centre Kenya

Founded in 2008, Ufanisi responds to massive poverty in Korogocho which makes it difficult for parents to meet children’s needs and rights. Ufanisi Centre is striving provide food, shelter and education to some of the abandoned children who risk of being abused, malnutrition, diseases, prostitution, teenage pregnancies, begging, drug abuse and criminal activities. Its goal is to empower children and develop them personally and professionally. Where did it start? The initiative started with 10 children who were provided with basic education, food and clothing. The number of children has increased to more than 70 now. With minimal resources Ufanisi has managed to give a ray of hope to orphans and abandoned children. Nowadays Ufanisi has grown to become more than just a feeding program. Together with dedicated volunteers, Isaiah strives to provide the children with food, education and personal growth, but most of all: stability, a safe and warm home, and a future. The name says it all: Ufanisi means prosperity in Swahili and as Isaiah puts it:''(.) even though we live in harsh conditions, we believe that through Ufanisi centre, these children will be able to prosper when they grow up''.
