Uganda Ncd Alliance

Our Story The Uganda NCD Alliance (UNCDA) was launched in 2010 through a joint initiative by the Uganda Diabetes Association, Uganda Heart-Research Foundation and Uganda Cancer Society, in partnership with the Danish NCD Alliance and a grant from the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA). The need for an alliance on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) grew out of the rising epidemic of diabetes, cancer and heart disease, and their risk factors of smoking, physical inactivity, unhealthy diet, and alcohol. We are the first civil society organization of our kind in Africa and our vision is to inspire and empower all people living with NCDs in Uganda to join together in the fight to prevent and treat NCDs. What We Do The Uganda NCD Alliance uses targeted advocacy and outreach to advance action on NCDs in Uganda. We provide direct support to thousands of patients, work with a wide range of partners and organizations, convene leading NCD experts, implement projects, connect new partners, and ensure that NCDs are a national development priority. We are a unique alliance in that we function both as an umbrella organization and also provide direct NCD services to patients. As a civil society alliance, Our doors are always open to new partners and supporters who wish to join our fight against NCDs.
