When the pandemic hits in 2020, it was all of a sudden. Soon after, per April 2020, 229.789 people are laid off from the formal sector and another 443.760 from the informal sector. Not only from the employee side, there are at least 10,1% of SME that stop operating during the pandemic. Seeing this phenomenon, CEDS UI as an entrepreneurial community at UI tries to expand its contribution to the Indonesian people by launching the first UITalks in 2020, in hope that people can be inspired to rise from the economic downturn during the pandemic. This year the world is still in the pandemic, but we don’t want to stop contributing for Indonesia once the pandemic ends. Indonesia still needs at least 4 million new entrepreneurs to help strengthen the economic structure. As currently the entrepreneurial ratio in the country is still around 3.1 percent of the total population. Therefore UITalks will continue to develop and inspire Indonesia. Last year's event was fully in the form of a webinar, but we see that theories only are not sufficient to help the people. So for this year’s event, UITalks will also encourage the audience to apply what they’ve learned.
