Umass Amherst Veterinary Technology Program
The Veterinary Technology Program at UMass Amherst is a Bachelor of Science degree program within the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at UMass Amherst. This program begins with two years of courses at the UMass Amherst campus, followed by two years of courses at the UMass Amherst at Mount Ida Campus in Newton, MA. The program is fully accredited with the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and students graduating from the UMass Vet Tech program can sit for the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) upon graduation. The Vet Tech program trains students to become exceptional in their field of veterinary nursing. The program first started under Mt. Ida College and was continued under UMass Amherst when Mt. Ida College went out of business in 2018. Students graduating from the UMass Vet Tech program are able to become certified or licensed as Veterinary Technologists after passing the VTNE.
