Gaining access to graphical information (such as maps, graphs, and diagrams) is one of the biggest challenges for blind and visually-impaired (BVI) people. This lack of graphical information access negatively impacts their educational prospects (i.e, only ~11% have a bachelor’s degree), ability to travel (i.e, 30% do not travel independently outside of their home), and employment (i.e, more than 70% are unemployed). We invented Midlina to resolve this troubling situation. Midlina is a AI-powered software solution that will assist visually-impaired people by enabling access to graphical information in digital media via smartphones and tablets.
