Uncorked Access

Peter Cook and Laura Brown Unterstein founded Uncorked Access with a mission to make the wine industry more accessible to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities. Peter Cook is a world renowned Deaf storyteller and poet, as well as the Chair of the ASL Department at Columbia College in Chicago, and holds the WSET Level 3 Advanced Award. Laura Brown Unterstein is a nationally certified ASL interpreter, works in national sales for Maysara Winery, and also holds the WSET Level 3 Advanced Award. Peter and Laura offer consulting, workshops, advocacy, and education for hospitality companies and the d/Deaf community. Ultimately, they would like to see fully equivalent experiences in wine, from certifications, to tasting events, to employment and leadership opportunities.
