Undi18 aims to utilize young people’s potential as agents of change. According to the UN, young people, who represent a majority of the population in most developing countries, are today visibly contributing as political actors, innovators, entrepreneurs, and peacebuilders. At the same time, youth face disproportionate social, economic and political barriers which prevent them from unleashing their full potential. Before GE14, we worked with politicians and activists to ensure that lowering the voting age was considered as an agenda for both Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan. We managed to convince Pakatan Harapan, who is currently the government, to include it in their manifesto. We have organized numerous social media campaigns to increase public awareness of our initiative. Currently, we are working with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to create an online campaign to challenge misconceptions about the capabilities of young Malaysians. In the near future, we hope to expand our work on political education, especially with high school and university students.
