Unfree Media

UNFree Media (unfreemedia.com) is a worldwide network to enable censored journalists, bloggers, writers and documentary makers publis and broadcast. Over a thousands journbalists (mostly bloggers) were jailed last year for expressing dissenting views. A large number were killed for their work and countless were sacked banned from practicing journalism. UNFree Media is a bottom-up site where correspondents follow the news and file the sorts of stories their governments don't ordinarily permit. Big media companies have drastically cut back on foreign reporting, so there is an important role to be filled by this network of independent minded journalists, bloggers and documentary makers. Cuba's Yoani Sanchez's blogs are translated into more than 10 languages which helps protect her from jail where so many other Cuban journalists rot. Basildon Peta, UNFree Media's's Africa Editor fled Zimbabwe in fear of his life and now works from South Africa We seek independent minded journalists to look after regions or countries, whether as writers or translators or mentors for the many many censored bloggers, writers and journalists out there.
